1/2″ series scanning lenses is designed for 1/2″ imaging sensor, such as MT9M001, AR0821 and IMX385. The onsemi AR0821 is a 1/2inch (Diagonal 9.25 mm) CMOS digital image sensor with a 3848 H x 2168 V active−pixel array, 2.1μm x 2.1μm pixel size. This advanced sensor captures images in either linear or high dynamic range, with rolling−shutter readout. AR0821 is optimized to deliver high−quality performance in both low−light and challenging lighting conditions. These characteristics make the sensor very suitable for a variety of applications including scanning, and inspection & quality control.

In the assembly process, all components and assemblies can be uniquely identified and thus traced by means of 2D codes applied to them. Camera-based code readers can read even the smallest DataMatrix codes (e.g. on battery cells or printed circuit boards).
This usually does not require a high-end industrial camera, but so-called code readers.
